Ha-llo-ween is Cooooming....

This is a favorite time of the year for my family. Before we were even dating Paul hosted an annual Halloween Bonfire. This has been a tradition that we have continued together for 10 years. With the exception of last year (the wedding of our friends fell around that time) & this year (October has been too CRAZY). So we are downscaling and having it at our home instead of on his parent's property. This will be the first year that the kids are involved. In the past it has been an adults only evening. Now that the kids are getting bigger we thought it was time to make it a family event. This year's party will be the night before Halloween. I hope to post some photos later.

For now I thought I might share photos of the decorations here at home -starting outside. Three years ago my husband cut a witch & 3 cats out of plywood. This was yet another Martha Stewart original. He cut out the silhouettes and painted them black. We even attached a broom & lantern as suggested in the magazine. However, Paul had a great idea. He remember an old, cracked, cast iron pot that his mom had. So he took Martha's idea and improved upon it. The Stepanek witch also has a cauldron that smokes!!! He put a light and fog machine inside the pot! It really does look so cool, even in the daytime. I thought I would share some photos that I snapped tonight of her in action. Sorry for the lighting.....there is a street light near our house. If you are interested in making a witch of your own I am fairly certain that Martha still has the pattern available on her website.

taking the plunge...

I have been a long time admirer (o.k. self admitted stalker.... borderline junkie) to the whole blogging arena. I have many favorites that I faithfully check on a daily basis. My blog addictions include: paper crafting, scrapbooking, photography, home decor, cooking, family life, and most recently even sewing. The blog world has been an amazing discovery for me!!! It supplies me with endless inspiration. I have wanted for quite some time now to join this fantastic community.
Today I was visiting a fabulous, favorite blog of mine (
http://polkadotchair.blogspot.com/) and she requested that her readers post their favorite Halloween ideas. Being that Halloween is one of my absolute favorite holidays I was inspired to jump right in and make my first post about a treat that I have been making for the past few years. martha stewart is amazing and i have loved her forever! These ghost pops- dare I say???..... turned out (to my surprise) just as good Martha's!!! They're pretty uncomplicated and require no special molds. Best of all, they are yummy! I get requests for them every year.

I purchased the clear bags (Wilton) at Michael's and tied them closed with different ribbons. Often times I have high expectation for a project only to be a little disappointed when it doesn't turn out just like the photo. These little ghost definitely exceeded my expectations!
